(a) Frequency and Pitch
You will do an investigation into the connection between the frequency of a sound wave and the pitch we hear.
Write it up, including diagrams/photos of the equipment and photographs of the oscilloscope traces for sounds of different frequencies.
Don’t forget to include your conclusion clearly.
(b) Amplitude and Loudness
You will also do an investigation into the connection between the amplitude of a sound wave and the pitch we hear.
Compare the amplitude on the oscilloscope with the reading on the SPL meter (SPL stands for sound pressure level).
Write the investigation up including diagrams/photos of the equipment and photographs of the oscilloscope traces to compare to the SPL meter readings.
